INTRODUCTION

Safety is freedom from, or resilience towards, potential hurt (or different undesirable coercive change) brought on by others. Beneficiaries (technically referents) of safety could also be of individuals and social teams, objects and establishments, ecosystems or every other entity or phenomenon susceptible to undesirable change.

Safety principally refers to safety from hostile forces, however it has a variety of different senses: for instance, because the absence of hurt (e.g. freedom from need); because the presence of a necessary good (e.g. meals safety); as resilience towards potential injury or hurt (e.g. safe foundations); as secrecy (e.g. a safe phone line); as containment (e.g. a safe room or cell); and as a frame of mind (e.g. emotional safety).
